DCTB Current Transformer Secondary Overvoltage Protection De

Current transformer (CT) is widely used for the primary protection, measurement and control in the power system. In the normal operation, the secondary side of the transformer is approximately short-circuited and has a low output voltage. When the secondary winding is open or an abnormal current (such as lightning current, resonant overcurrent, capacitor charging current, inductor starting current, etc.) flows through the primary winding, an overvoltage of thousands of volts or tens of thousands of volts is generated on the secondary side. This will damage the insulation of the secondary system, cause the burnout of the transformer because of overcurrent, and even endanger the safety of the workers. The DCTB-IV series CT secondary overvoltage protection device (referred to as DCTB device) can effectively prevent the accidents caused by the open circuit of the secondary side of the current transformer.
